EMILIE FAIF & ARNOLD GORON

Opening 10 April 17.00 – 20.00

Soledad Senlle Gallery celebrates spring with the vivid and colourful exhibition The Limpet & The Cloud. The installations and sculptures of the French artists Emilie Faïf en Arnold Goron together form a dreamlike landscape. With this exhibition both artists show their work in the Netherlands for the first time.

An enormous heart, secret landscapes and floating prairies are part of the world that Emilie Faïf (1976, France) creates. Her colorful installations have something natural about them and at the same time they are mysterious; they resemble dreams in which the heavy becomes light, where wishes never fall back and in which light doesn’t create shadow. Part of the works shown in this exhibition were originally made for fashion designer Isabel Marant with whom she has been in an ongoing dialogue since 2003.

In some pieces Faïf incorporated garments and fabrics in spacious, occasionally moving installations. She brings soft and vulnerable materials to life in installations in which the dynamics of the city meet with blissful dreams and idyllic nature.
Emilie Faïf graduated from (ENSAAMA) school of Art and Design and ENSAD school of Decorative Arts in Paris. Her creations include installations and scenographies for the "gallerie des enfants" at the Centre Pompidou, the Ministry of Culture, Hermès, and the Public Office for Habitat (OPHLM).

The sculptures and installations of Arnold Goron (1966, France) are often made of stone- and earthen wear. He works with these natural materials as a true sculptor; making use of the suppleness of the material, whereas at the same time he carves the clay as if it was a hard stone.

When Goron starts out with an existing object, he will keep working until it becomes unrecognizable. His round and angular shaped objects seem to have been pulled out of strange landscapes. His sculptures want to be touched and caressed: ‘How to imagine its weight, its heat, its softness, its roughness without placing your hand on it? Hands make sculptures. Another hand is needed to meet with a sculpture.’ Arnold Goron

Arnold Goron graduated from (ESAG) School of Design, Graphic Design and Interior Architecture. His work was shown in various galleries in Paris such as Gallery Henriette Gomès and Gallery la Périphérie.
He has also made installations for fashion designer Isabel Marant and fashion brand Levi’s.
